Yak Lab: Teaching with Digital Humanities Tools
Join us for the semester's first Yak Lab, where we'll discuss Teaching with Digital Humanities Tools. Alexandra Guerson (New College) will bring to the table her ideas for a winter semester course focused on the history of medieval Spain, and Matt Price (History) and Frances Garrett (Religion) will describe courses they've designed newly for this semester using SIMILE Timelines and HTML5 design to enhance oral history projects. Join us for a discussion of the challenges and opportunities offered by new technologies to undergraduate teaching!
Beginning in the summer of 2011, DISC has been hosting two kinds of events. Our Hack Lab sessions feature faculty or students leading tutorials or workshops on technologies useful for a range of digital scholarship purposes. In our Yak Lab sessions, a member brings to the group a particular problem, relating to digital scholarship, that she or he is trying to solve, and we work together to develop ideas or approaches to the problem.
