The iBrary Online is a digital repository of diverse scholarly resources related to the study of Islam and Muslim Civilizations from across the world. Through its collections, the iBrary Online attempts to foster a dialogue of civilizations that begins in the sphere of the digital and reaches beyond the academic to engage a broader audience.

This reference tool aims to catalogue the largest collection of resources on Islamic history, cultures, art, architecture, languages, literatures, philosophy, theology among others to a broad audience including the public and specialists alike. The iBrary Online currently features more than a thousand resources including scholarly journals and academic dictionaries, resources pertaining to Islamic law, languages, the Qur’an and hadiths (prophetic traditions), as well as international language exchange programs.

Research and work on the iBrary Online began in 2006 with a handful of students as part of the University of Toronto's innovative Research Opportunity Program (ROP). The iBrary Online research team is supervised and directed by Professor Shafique N. Virani, Professor of Islamic Studies in the Department and Centre for the Study of Religion and Chair of the Department of Historical Studies at the University of Toronto St. George and the University of Toronto-Mississauga (UTM) campuses respectively.
